The top third of the shield features a red St. George’s Cross on a white background, symbolizing Yukon’s historical ties to England. In the center of this cross, a blue disc contains a small red disc representing the gold discovered during the Klondike Gold Rush. Below this, the shield is split into two sections: blue wavy lines on white (representing the Yukon River and gold nuggets within the river gravels) and two red triangles topped with two golden triangles (representing the territory’s mountains).
